520 CMR 14.00 titled Excavation and Trench Safety Regulations became effective on January 1, 2009. These important regulations were drafted following an incident in Bridgewater where a young girl perished due to injuries sustained after falling into an unprotected trench. Jaclyn's Law, as it is known, is named in her memory.
Seminar instructors will examine the main purpose of these regulations, which is to establish procedures and methods to protect members of the general public from incurring similar injury. In particular, the law and resulting regulation intends to:
